Some of the benefits of patient education include: Increasing the level of health literacy, developing self-care skills in chronic diseases, increasing knowledge about conditions, improving the quality of care and helping the patient to achieve more self-sufficiency and reducing health care costs. Medical Librarians can help health professionals and nurses to promote community health by identifying useful information as well as writing them in plain language. This paper reports an experience about creating a nongovernmental center for the provision and dissemination of easy-to-read materials. It is hoped that launching and supporting such centers, in addition to promoting community health, will guarantee the patients' rights to access high quality and authentic health educational resources. This can also provide a field for the participation of various health groups and the activities of graduates of the above fields.}, keywords = {Easy to Read Health Materials,Patient Education,Health Personnel, experience}, url = {https://literacy.mums.ac.ir/article_10926.html}, eprint = {https://literacy.mums.ac.ir/article_10926_ab8b07d7c441c2f5bdd03d5cf0754425.pdf} } @article { author = {AbbasZadeh Bazzi, Mohammad and Karimiaval, Mehdi}, title = {Relationship between Health Literacy and Self-Care Behaviors in Diabetic Patients Type II Referred to the Center of Diabetes Control and Prevention in Zabol}, journal = {Journal of Health Literacy}, volume = {3}, number = {1}, pages = {10-19}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Health literacy indicates the patient's health care; therefore, the present study was aimed to determine the level of health literacy and self-care level of type II diabetic patients referred to diabetes center of Zabol city. Methods:This was a descriptive-analytic study that performed on 150 diabetic patient’s type II referred to Diabetes Control Center in Zabol in 2016 who had the inclusion criteria for the study. Samples were selected by using randomized sampling method. Data were collected through a questionnaire containing three parts of demographic information, health literacy, and self-care level in diabetes. Data were analyzed by SPSS 19 software and statistical tests (e.g.: T-test, Chi-Square, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlationcoefficient). Results: The results of this study showed that 71.3% of the participants had inadequate and cross-border health literacy and 28.7% of them had adequate health literacy. The findings also have showed that significant relationship between the level of health literacy with gender, age, and occupation. Alsofinding showed that 43% inadequate self-care؛ 35% border self-care and 22% adequate self-care level. Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that adequate health literacy in people’s old age more than others. Also by increasing age in diabetic patients was higher health literacy rate and have been adequate self-care level. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that patients with type II diabetes had inadequate health literacy and this would cost a lot to the patients with diabetes each year. Hence, the production of media and educational materials in the local dialect of each region that have simple and comprehensible for all age groups and people with inadequate health literacy can be an effective step for improving health literacy at the individual and social levels Paper Type:Research Article.}, keywords = {Health Literacy,Diabetes Type II,Self-care behaviors,Zabol}, url = {https://literacy.mums.ac.ir/article_10927.html}, eprint = {https://literacy.mums.ac.ir/article_10927_12d83d5de6dcdf09097c7eca4526c43b.pdf} } @article { author = {Kohan, Shahnaz and Mohammadi, Fatemeh and Yazdi, Maryam and Dadkhah, Azam}, title = {Evaluation of relationship between reproductive health literacy and demographic factors in women}, journal = {Journal of Health Literacy}, volume = {3}, number = {1}, pages = {20-29}, year = {2018}, publisher = {Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between reproductive health literacy and demographic factors in women of Isfahan city. Methods:This study was a descriptive-analytic research that was evaluated women's reproductive health literacy and its related factors in Isfahan using the questionnaire of health literacy scale for women of reproductive age. Sampling method was easy and 235 women were enrolled in the study. Data analysis was performed using the software SPSS20. Results: The average age of these women was 27/8 ± 11/01 years, most were high school graduates and married. The reproductive health literacy score was desirable in 91% of women and two variables of marital status and age had correlation with reproductive health literacy scores. Conclusion: The results showed marital status and age were two related factors to women's reproductive health literacy level. Accordingly, the reproductive health literacy scores of women younger than 25 years old and unmarried women were lower than other groups. The health of the community depends on the physical, psychological and social health of individuals and individuals in a healthy society that is being raised. On this basis, in order to be aware of the level of health of women, both in their health and in the health of the family and the community involved. In this research, it has been tried to analyze the factors affecting the social health of women. Methods:The present study was a descriptive survey that was conducted by cluster sampling and by the standard questionnaire of Keyes and Shapiro on 380 married women aged 25-45 years old in Uremia in 1395. In order to test the hypothesis of the research, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test, variance analysis, multivariate regression and spss software were used. The reliability coefficient of the standard social health questionnaire was 0.86 based on Cranach’s alpha. Results: research`s results showed that there is a direct and positive relationship between the level of social support of the family, religiosity and social trust of women and the social health of married women. Regarding the regression model, family social support and social trust have the greatest impact on the social health of married women. Also, the social health of women varies according to employment. But the social health of women is not different from their education. Conclusion: Considering the findings of the research, family is the most important source of social support for married women in Uremia. Due to the increasing prevalence of smoking among university students, this study aimed to determine the role of HL in reinforcing the performance of HBM in anticipating the adoption of smoking preventive behaviors. Methods:This cross-sectional study was carried out among 340 dormitory students of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, selected by sinle-stage cluster sampling. The data gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire based on HBMfor smoking preventive behaviors and HL questionnaire (HELIA). The data were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis method by Liserl software 8.8 and multiple regression analysiswith SPSS software. Results: The results of the validity of two versions of HBM(original version and combined version with HL) in confirmatory factor analysis showed that fitness indexes of combined version with HL are better. Multiple regression analysisreflected that the coverage ratio of behavior variance of the combined version (r2= 36.5) is more than the original version (r2= 24. 6).   Conclusion: To design and implement educational programs in order to adoption of smoking preventive behaviorsamong students, using HBM combined with HL is more effective than the original version of this model. Given the high burden of hypertension, the present study was aimed at investigating the determinants factors of hypertension and commitment to implementing a nutritional program based on the Pender Health Promotion Model. Methods:Across-sectional survey was conducted on 420 patients with hypertension supervised by the urban health centers of Gorgan city health district. Sampling technique was random multi-stage cluster sampling. Data was collected using a standard questionnaire based on the Pender Health Promotion Model (HPM). To analyze, descriptive methods and inferential statistical tests including independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression model were used through SPSS version 18. The significance level was considered less than 0.05.    Results: The results showed that 386 (91.9%) had no drug changes based on doctor comment and 352 (83.8%) did not use any drugs to control blood pressure. Statistical tests reported that commitment to implementing nutrition program had a remarkable differences with perceived barriers (p=0.001), self-efficacy (p=0.001), feelings related to behavior (p=0.001), situational determinants (P=0.038), and interpersonal factors (p=0.001). Conclusion: The score of most constructs of the HPM was moderate; therefore, designing the effective interventions using HPM may be helpful in controlling hypertension.
