The relationship between health literacy and self-efficacy physical activity in postpartum women

Background and objective: Health literacy is the capacity of individuals to obtain process and understand basic health information and services needed to make healthy decisions. Self-efficacy is a predictor for health behaviors such as physical activity. The aim of study was to determine the relationship between health literacy and self-efficacy especially in postpartum women who are at risk of sedentary life.
Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, 120 mothers with children less than three months of age have 20-35 years were selected randomly from all health centers in Mashhad. The instruments used standard questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation.
Results: More than seventy percent of the participants was low (inadequate, boarder line). Significant relationships were found between health literacy and self-efficacy with age (P <0.001), education levels (P <0.001) and breast feeding (P <0.001). Women with adequate health literacy had significantly higher self-efficacy (P <0.001).
Conclusion: To improve management weight postpartum and result it, should be developed strategies for promoting health literacy and consequently self-efficacy and physical activity.

Background and objective: Self-medication of slimming supplements has increased. Media advertising is involved in this field. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of media literacy educational intervention in the students' attitudes about self-medication of slimming supplements among the femaledormitories in University of Medical Sciences in Iran.
Methods: In this quasi-experimental study of controlled type, 98 students were selected by multistage cluster sampling method and randomly divided into two groups of 49 tests and 49 control. The data collecting instruments were the researcher-made questionnaire about media literacy and attitude on self-medication of slimming pills, BICI questionnaire of body image, and SEI Cooper Smith's questionnaire of self-esteem. Based on the results obtained from the questionnaires early completion, an appropriate educational intervention was designed and carried out. One and three months after the intervention, data was gathered and analyzed in (16) SPSS software using descriptive and analytical tests.
Results: Before the intervention, the mean scores of attitude, body image, self-esteem, and dimensions of media literacy in both groups were moderate, and there was no significant difference between them. Also, positive correlations were observed in the experiment group between attitude and knowledge (r = 0.99, p = 0.001), critical thinking (r = 0.61, p = 0.001) and analysis (r=0.37, p=0.009). One and three months after the intervention, the mean scores of body image, self-esteem, and dimensions of media literacy were observed significant in both groups (p <0.05).
Conclusion: Media literacy education was effective in promoting the attitude about slimming supplements.

Background and objective: One of the ways to prevent and control occupational accidents and educate people informing them of the risks and how to work safely. The aim of this study was to study the effectiveness of educational interventions to promote safe behavior and knowledge workers is studied. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed SID database and to obtain titles and abstracts containing data related to worker safety behaviors by examining the full text of 22 articles were selected and the results of which were analyzed Results: The group of workers includes training class. The impact of educational interventions: improving the safety of workers and the development of a safety culture in the workplace can be named. Most of the training programs designed for group discussion and the principles of adult learning. Conclusion: summary and analysis of the literature showed the need to promote safe behavior of workers. Since this behavior is very important, intervention is capable of knowledge, attitude, and perceived behavioral control about unsafe behavior change and improve the performance of their safety Paper Type: review Article.

Background and objective: One of the critical steps in providing social and family health by concentrating on women's health is expanding sexual and reproductive health and addressing it in various aspects of the national and international level. Therefore in this study the goal is analyzing the components of the health belief model about sexual and reproductive health of female students of University of Medical Sciences of Shahroud. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional analysis which conducted by participation of 397 female students of University of Medical Sciences of Shahroud in 2014. The data collecting tool was a questionnaire that was consisted of demographic information, knowledge and structures of health belief model. The data was analyzed by SPSS software and t-test and chi-square test. Results: The results showed that students had high self-efficacy (17.7 ± 2) in reproductive health care but the rate of their perceived barriers (3.02± 1.37) that was reported was almost high. Also there was a direct relation between demographic variable of age and the knowledge of students. The average score of students' awareness of sexually transmitted disease that was obtained was 9.97 ± 2.62. There was no significant relationship between age, marital status and their study major with structures of health belief model about sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS and its preventive behaviors. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that the self-efficacy of students about preventive behaviors of unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS is high. In other hand the average of perceived barriers in students is relatively high. Considering the findings it is recommended that sexual and reproductive health programs should be applied in order to reduce the barriers and to further increase the ability of young people. Background and objective: The health literacy is known as a critical indicator of the results and the cost of health care. Having adequate health literacy is required for health care system. Health literacy in health care can be an important factor in decision-making and how they function in the health system to improve public health should be considered. This study aimed to assess health literacy, among health providers of rural area under health centers support in khaf. Methods: 43 health providers of rural area were studied by a cross sectional study. To collect data, demographic and health literacy assessment (TOFHLA) questionnaire were used. The validity and reliability of internal and external studies determined. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 16. Results: the mean age of the study subject was 40/32 years,69/8% female and 30/2%male. Average health literacy score in health providers was 86/54. Pearson correlation coefficient between the components of health literacy in the study sample showed high correlation (p<0/001).In this study, there wasn’t a statistically significant association between the educational level, age, gender and health literacy status. Conclusion: According to the study, the average level of health literacy and related components among health providers was inadequate. Though, It is necessary to pay more attention to health literacy through health promotion programs. Paper Type: Research Article.

Background and objective: Infertility as a crisis in couples' life, not only creates psychological problems, but also, it can act as a powerful impact on the relationships between couples. The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of relationship enrichment on compatibility and marital satisfaction of infertile couples. Methods: This is a semi experimental study with pre-test and post-test on control group. Statistical population of this study was an infertile couple in Birjand. The couples were randomly divided to control groups (17 couples) and experimental groups (15 couples). The research instrument was marital adjustment questionnaire. That completed before, immediately and 3 months after intervention. The intervention consisted of 6 training session. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 16). Results: Before the intervention, mean scores were matched the two groups. After the intervention, the experimental group increased average compatibility from 101.5±22/4 to 129.33±10.6 , marital satisfaction from 33/8±8 to 44±4.8 , marital solidarity from12±3.8 to 16.1±2.2 , couples agreement from 44.6±10.5 to 54.8±6.1 , expression of love from 11±3.7 to 14.2± 1.(p<0.05) Conclusion: Relationship enrichment increased the marital compatibility and marital satisfaction. Therefore recommended using relationship enrichment program to increase compatibility and marital satisfaction. Paper Type: Research Article.

Background and objective: proper treatment and control of hypertension is important due to its high prevalence and severe complications. The aim of the present study was to assessment of Knowledge, treatment and blood pressure control in hypertensive patients. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which, using a multi stage sample of 358 hypertensive patients of hypertension were selected. The data collecting instruments were the researcher-made questionnaire about Knowledge, treatment and blood pressure control. Data analyzed in SPSS software using descriptive and analytical tests. Results: According to the severity of the disease 41/89% had normotension,33/51 %degree I ,24/58% degree II. Awareness of 318(88/82%) patients was considered good. Among these patients 85/71% consumed anti-hypertensive drugs and 53/35% consumed drugs regularly .the number of people who regularly measure blood pressure during the last 6 months were 235 (65/64%)who had Conclusion: Due to the low percentage of disease control, health system in serious need of health professionals and families involved and to promote inclusiveness and operating of training provided to the patient and society are emphasized.
